Live Register – March 2024

The Central Statistics Office has released results from the Live Register for March 2024. 

The Key Findings

  • The seasonally adjusted Live Register total for March 2024 was 174,500 people, down by 400 people or 0.2% from February 2024.
  • The unadjusted Live Register total stood at 173,396 people for March 2024.
  • Of the 173,396 people on the unadjusted Live Register in March 2024, 54.6% were male and 68.9% were Irish.
  • The 35-44 age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register in March 2024 at 40,797 people or 23.5% of the total.
  • The counties that saw the largest increase in the number of people on the Live Register in the 12 months to March 2024 were Meath (10.6%) and Laois (4.7%). 
  • In March 2024 there were 111,463 people on the Live Register for less than one year, which was 6,122 fewer people than March 2023.
