The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has published the National Climate Change Risk Assessment on June 3, 2025, which provides the first comprehensive assessment of where, when and how climate risks are likely to impact Ireland over the coming decades.
The major finding of the report is that there are 115 identified climate risks, with 43 deemed significant in sectors like energy, transport, water, public health, communications, and ecosystems. Urgent adaptation measures are needed in the next five years to protect infrastructure from extreme winds, coastal flooding/erosion and more.
