The European Migration Network (EMN) Ireland has published its annual review of migration and asylum in Ireland.
“With an overview of the latest data as well as policy and operational developments, research, and case law from 2023, this report is a comprehensive reference that gives an opportunity to view the entire migration landscape in Ireland.
The report shows continued challenges and developments in migration to Ireland. These include continued forced migration flows, limited processing and accommodation capacity for international protection, continued labour market shortages and the expansion of sectors eligible for employment permits. As a result of these and other factors, immigration increased by 5% in the year to April 2024, still slightly lower than the peak in 2007. Immigration from outside the EU or UK made up 58% of this, which includes Ukrainians.”
